It’s really interesting that studies basically back this up - outcomes for girls are most positive at all girl schools, while boys do better in mixed schools!

Yh I’m the opposite, I went to a mixed school and liked it. The people from the single gendered schools were the most excited to be around the opposite gender, usually making bad decisions because of it. In mixed schools, we simply didn’t care, we were around each other daily, realising they were nothing special. And it’s pretty good for child development not sheltering kids from boys and vice versa.

honestly it wasn’t even that we were particularly celebrated, it’s just that we were the norm. for 7 years there was no *girls* football team, it was just the football team. if a teacher needed something carrying, obviously a girl got it. girls were both the best and worst at maths or science, because there were only girls there! our ability (or lack of) to do ANYTHING was never linked to our gender, it was just who we were or what we liked as individuals

Idk why but growing up in an all girls school made me see males as unnatural. Sisterhood felt so normal so when I left and started interacting with males it felt weird and stressful in my opinion 😂

i remember before graduation one of my teachers sat us down and said “when you get to uni, don’t let the boys talk over you because your voice is just as important as theirs are” and we didn’t understand what she was talking about!! I truly sat there thinking why wouldn’t we just take turns to speak like in a normal classroom 🫠🫠

The first time I properly encountered sexism was uni, and I thought it was a bad joke at first

At my all-girls school, I didn’t feel like there was a social hierarchy. There were definitely groups of friends and some groups were known as more athletic or outgoing or rich but I never got the vibe they thought they were better than anyone else. Did that happen at y’all’s school?

Leaving school and realizing everyone was not a raging feminist was such a disappointment, and learning how men talked about women irl was horrific :(

Girls school experience made me try and stay in female spaces as much as possible because that was the norm for me. Female dominated courses, female friends only etc.

You worded this funny. Even if there was a boy at your school, the girls could all still be the best at STEM or at sports, boys aren't automatically better.

I absolutely loved my all girls school because although I wasn’t oblivious to misogyny and sexism I got the privilege of never having it impact my education when I was too young to stick up for myself

So state schools in the uk are mixed to benefit boys and girls pay the price for that. Thats what the evidence shows
