I had the same back in Feb, didn’t see my baby for over 32 hours as I was so poorly and he was so early in the NICU, looking back I should have been more outspoken and made them take me to see him, meant I didn’t see his first nappy change, opening his eyes etc. I like to think him being so attached to me now is us both making up for it ❤️

I was the same - with my little boy, he arrived at 33 weeks and taken to SCBU (special care baby unit) and I was surrounded by mums with their newborns and one of the nurses who done the medication came round and looked me in the eye and asked where my baby was. I was moved to a private room and had to wait to go see him as I was recovering from surgery

Me too and I'm forever traumatised by the experience, unless you've been through it no one can understand what this does to you, hope your girl had a speedy recovery and you too xxxx

@Abdulina: I had this done to me too, but only my boy was on palliative care and we knew we was losing him , it hurt seeing other mums holding theirs and hearing them crying all whilst knowing I was losing mine 💔💔 had to tell them to move me away as I couldn’t bare seeing other babies and when he passed away i discharged myself within a couple of hours..💔 it’s cruel

I had similar but it’s not done to be cruel, they don’t have a choice. Baby needs to be in NICU and you need to heal and recover in a ward, they do t have enough private rooms etc

There’s no worse feeling. I remember coming back from the NICU after being told my son might not make it, and having to listen to other babies and their mums complain they couldn’t sleep… i had a full on breakdown and they moved me to a private room in the end. No fault at all to the other mums, but NICU parents should be allowed to recover in the NICU or in a separate area

I experienced it too, but was grateful my child was being cared for, I appreciated the chance to sleep and heal so I could take care of her when she was ready. I personally think handing a baby to someone who had major surgery and sleep deprived is so dangerous and wouldn't happen. if it was a man

Count your blessings. At least you had a baby full stop. Some women don’t ever get to meet theirs …

Oh my god this was my exact experience with my first born. The following morning the health care assists came round opening everyone’s curtains. All the new mummies around me sat there with their babies and I was there alone without mine. Unable to walk down to NICU because of my surgery and had to wait for my partner I feel your pain mama 🥺🥺🩵🩵

This happened to me. The two other mothers had all their family visiting and they were all celebrating whilst I laid next to empty crib, waiting to find out when my baby was going for surgery. I asked to move because I couldn’t handle it

I had this happen too! My baby was sent to NICU in another county within the UK as she needed a specialist hospital, whilst I was in the hospital I had my c section in due to sepsis. In a room full of crying babies. I literally had a mental breakdown and my mum had to step in and get me moved. I’m sorry this happened to you too 😩🤍

It’s heartbreaking, this happened with my first born ~ I was 18 and had an emergency c section after a cryptic pregnancy and it broke my heart ~ I have no idea how they would put anyone in a position like this it’s just not fair I am so sorry

Emergency c-section with my first, he was took to NICU with breathing issues, I was too poorly with sepsis and wasn’t allowed to see him for 2 days. They wouldn’t let me go from the ward and I didn’t have the strength to get up and take myself. It was awful😢

I remember hearing the lady in the bed across from me, on the phone, crying to her family at 3am because she was struggling so much. She was on a normal ward (shared between four new mothers) but her baby was in NICU. English was her second language and she was having to try to advocate for herself because the staff weren't listening to her properly. This was during COVID so no family were allowed in to visit. She didn't know it but every time she cried, I cried with her.

Me too with my second baby. Was in there for hours and my partner just sat on his phone. After a while they actually moved me into my own room. I was gobsmacked!

I feel you on this one. My spinal failed just as they started so I had to be put to sleep for the whole thing, so I missed her being born and I didn’t even get to see her before she went. It’s been over 6 years now and it still breaks my heart every time I think of it 💔

This happened to me. They then moved him hospitals to a different NICU, I was left behind. Bleeding & in pain. They didn’t even inform me he moved. Didn’t get to be with him until the morning 😭
