Stacy and Clinton did a follow up show in 2023 on Amazon prime recently called “Wear Whatever The F You Want” where they did a similar thing but were far more how they’d want to be - celebratory of individual style and willing to meet people where they actually are. They are vocal about how the network pushed a certain attitude and final look and how they hated it. They are now doing their own YouTube channel, reviewing fashion in media (tv and movies) and it’s nice!

The first couple of Duggar specials were presented so wholesomely, that combined with it being on TLC at the time with a baby story I thought it was a safe watch.

In 1999 I was 24, in my last year of law school, working nearly full time on a student license, newly married and *very* unexpected pregnant. I was adopted so my mom was useless and I had NO clue what to expect. A Baby Story not only kept me sane, but helped me understand what to expect. I loved watching A Wedding Story, WNTW and Trading Spaces. I miss the “old”/ BETTER TLC. 💔💔

Actually fun fact I saw a time capsule home tour just a few days ago from the 70s where they did infact have hay/straw glued to the wall in the basement rec room pool table area

The learning channel was the reason I became a doctor. There was a show called Maternity Ward that documented labor and delivery departments and it made me want to become an obstetrician. Of course I’m now a pediatrician but if it weren’t for TLC and that show, it never would have occurred to me to apply to med school.

I remember watching reruns of Sew What’s New in the back of my Gram’s Quilt Shop! I would watch all the techniques! It helped me win a 4H sewing contest. My daughter now wears the outfit I won with.

I *loved* what not to wear. Until I realized they were stamping out individuality and wanted folks to conform to societal norms. I never understood why they couldn't teach folks to dress the body they had *and* keep their individuality.

I was pregnant at 19 in 2006. My midwife told me to strictly NOT watch a baby story. I was 19! I watched it daily! Nice way to scare the shit out of myself
