Wasn’t racism, sexism etc normalized for generations ? And most parts of the world still practice or abided by it to some degree, only the west really was different and even then it’s actively pushed against by multiple groups, so punks being against racism makes absolute sense. If being punk means being a wishy washy loser who goes against the system whenever it slightly changes, then I fear being a punk has lost all meaning.
