@basedbosniang: 511. slavna brdska brigada 🗡️⚜️ #bosanskakrupa #zatebe #topvideo #viral #arbih The 511th Glorious Mountain Brigade (511. slavna brdska brigada) was one of the most distinguished units of the 5th Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) during the Bosnian War. Originally formed as the 111th Bosanska Krupa Infantry Brigade on 1 September 1992 in Pištaline near Bosanska Krupa, it was established from the Territorial Defence (TO) units of Bosanska Krupa to defend the remaining free territory of the municipality. On 1 April 1993, it was redesignated as the 511th Mountain Brigade, and later earned the honorary title “Glorious” (Slavna) for its combat achievements. Headquarters: Bosanska Krupa (Pištaline) Corps: 5th Corps ARBiH Type: Mountain Infantry Active: 1 September 1992 – 1996 Commanders * Ismet Mujanović (first commander) * Fadil Hasanagić * Sakib Butković * Mirsad Crnkić * Mirsad Sedić * Alija Kurtović * Husnija Avdagić (post-war) Formation The brigade was formed from the already established Territorial Defence units of Bosanska Krupa and mobilized volunteers. At its formation it consisted of a headquarters with support units, three infantry battalions, a 120 mm mixed artillery-mortar battery, an anti-tank platoon, and an air defence platoon, with 1,692 soldiers and officers. Like most ARBiH units, it suffered from shortages of weapons and equipment despite having sufficient manpower. Combat History From 1992 to 1995, the brigade defended the Bosanska Krupa front against the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and later fought against forces of the Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia (APWB). It participated in numerous defensive and offensive actions as part of the 5th Corps, helping secure the Bihać Pocket during some of the war’s most difficult periods. On 13 June 1994, commander Mirsad Crnkić was killed while leading combat operations near Todorovo against APWB forces. He was succeeded by Mirsad Sedić, formerly deputy commander of the 5th Corps. Under Sedić’s command, the brigade achieved its greatest success during Operation Sana ’95, liberating Bosanska Krupa on 17 September 1995 after 1,244 days of occupation. The brigade continued advancing alongside other units of the 5th Corps until the end of the war. Major Operations * Battles against AP Western Bosnia (1994) * Liberation of Bosanska Krupa (17 September 1995) * Operation Sana ’95 Honours and Legacy The brigade earned the honorary title “Glorious” (Slavna) for its outstanding combat performance. During the war, approximately 250 members were killed and around 680 were wounded. Commander Mirsad Sedić received the Golden Lily (Zlatni Ljiljan) in 1996 and the Order of Military Merit with Silver Swords in 1998 for his leadership during the liberation of Bosanska Krupa. The 511th Glorious Mountain Brigade remains one of the most celebrated units of the 5th Corps ARBiH, remembered for its determined defence of the Bihać Pocket and its decisive role in liberating Bosanska Krupa during the final ARBiH offensives of 1995.
