7 years ago, I was taking home £1,600 a month living in London. I'd steal office supplies (toilet paper, even milk LOL) to save money. Fast forward to today, and I've built a 7-figure business, paid for my mum's birthday trip to Paris, and moved to Dubai on a whim. But here's the thing, completely flipping my reality wasn't just about making more money. It was about completely changing how I think about money. Here are the 5 money rules I live by that took me from broke to abundant: 1. I never say something is
7 years ago, I was taking home £1,600 a month living in London. I never say something is "expensive", I say it's "expansive" Words shape your reality. When you call something expensive, you're telling yourself you don't have enough. When you call it "expansive," you're acknowledging it's an investment in your growth. This one shift changed how I spend money forever. 2. I invested in myself before I invest in designer bags A few years ago, I maxed out my credit card and went into debt, not for a handbag, but to pay for a business mentor. I barely even told people around me because I knew they’d judge. But that $15,000 investment taught me how to build a business that now makes more in a month than I used to make in a year. You can spend $3,000 on a Louis Vuitton bag and be $3,000 poorer. Or you can invest $3,000 into your business and create something that makes you $3,000/month. One is a liability, and one is an asset. 3. I choose to rent instead of buy property People always tell me, "You're throwing money away on rent!" But here's what they don't understand: The extra few hundred pounds I pay in rent each month is the price I pay for freedom. Freedom to pick up and move from London to Dubai without worrying about selling property, taxes, and legal complications. Plus, I'd rather invest my focus into my business where I can 10x my money, not wait years for property to appreciate. 4. I'm never cheap about things that get me my time back I hire a cleaner once a week, and I’ve cooked a meal less than 3 times in the past 2 years living in Dubai. Because by the time I prep and clean, it's an energy drain. Time is the only asset you can't get back. If I can pay someone to handle tasks that drain me, I do it, because that frees me up to focus on making more money. 5. Credit isn't bad, misusing it is Society tells us credit is evil. But there is a huge difference between good and bad debt. Using a credit card to buy a TV = bad debt. Using credit to invest in your business, or learn a skill that will pay you back 10x? That's leverage. I started my business on a credit card. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Rich people use other people's money to make their own money. Poor people avoid credit entirely because they’ve been taught it’s bad. These aren’t just rules, they’re mindset shifts that helped me see things a completely different way. And transforming your finances starts with shifting how you think about money.
