This is a long one, but this is what I mean when I say I want to encourage more families to travel. ❤️ I wanted to give a little context to the pictures, because this is what I love most about travelling. It's about so much more than the places you visit. ✨ See a world bigger than the one they know. Like the beautiful viewpoint on Samosir Island that we stumbled across by chance and would never have known existed otherwise. ✨ Experience different cultures. We once cycled past a local religious celebration and were lucky enough to become part of something so special. ✨ Discover what they're capable of. Trekking through the Sumatran jungle searching for wild orangutans was an adventure we'll never forget. Did you know you can only see orangutans in the wild in two places in the world: Sumatra and Borneo? ✨ Build confidence and independence. This year we've encouraged the kids to pay for their own things and ask questions, even when it feels a little daunting. ✨ Appreciate what's on our own doorstep too. Scotland is stunning, and there's so much more of it we still need to explore. ✨ Help them make connections with people and places that challenge the way they see the world. Our village homestay gave the kids an insight into a different way of life, the importance of kindness and how happiness isn't measured by the things you have. ✨ Show them that incredible experiences don't have to cost a fortune. Some of our favourite memories haven't come from expensive attractions or activities. One day in Srilanka, we took Ben to a river to play and a local family invited us into their home for lunch. He might not remember it, but it's a story we still talk about. Because it's not just about the places you visit. It's about the people you meet, the things you learn and the way those experiences shape how you see the world. #FamilyTravel #TravelWithKids #FamilyAdventures #AffordableFamilyTravel
