God, Korra would have been so good if they actually handled this class divide properly. The plot of season one could have easily stretched 3 seasons long. Amon could have been a looming threat similar to Ozai as Korra struggled to ease the growing tension between benders and non-benders, investigated crime rings and terrorist cells, while still making time for episodic adventures for exploring Republic City's sub-cultures. But I guess a political crime thriller for young teenagers wasn't interesting to Nickelodeon.

Considering they ended up using more tax dollars to build the Aang statue later, I imagine they were pretty chill about the air temple, which probably cost next to nothing in comparison to the cities overall budget. It probably wasn’t even a line item.

Thats the purpose of the city. If other people ruin that and they are already not in power anymore why blame them😭. in the new movie the kids who are benders literally treat so bad sokka , they have absolute no respect even for one member of the avatar team just because he was a non-bender :// they raising his children to feel superior over the non-bender and this is a reality , aang expected to place benders and non-bender together and not be a privilege class when almost every job of republic city is take by a bender of any type
