Before the tragedy, Hans Walters was widely respected a high ranking veteran on the force with years of service. If you listened to him on the phone that day, he sounded calm and composed. Nothing about his voice suggested someone who had completely lost touch with reality. Sometimes the people who appear the strongest are fighting battles no one else can see. That’s why it’s important to look beyond appearances. Not every struggle is obvious, and not every crisis comes with warning signs.
