I just wanna know why every black person in Texas just instantly co-signed to James being racist? What did that man do?! 😭 he has been in the black community, he supports policies for black people, and Medicare for all. What more do you want?! And why didn’t Jasmine have the same level of scrutiny? She wanted to send your tax dollars overseas for a genocide. Why do people not care about that?

OF COURSE racism played a part. We are in Texas, after all. However, it is SO FAR from being the whole story. It's not as if she were running against an unqualified candidate, or a random nobody. She entered the race late, with an incomplete campaign, against a highly qualified candidate who had already had thousands of volunteers running an impressive ground game for months.

My only problem with jasmine crockett is she told talarico she wasn’t running for senate when he asked her before he started his campaign. Also taking money from cvs and Lockheed Martin. But yeah. Racism was def a factor for some people.

When Crockett entered the race, I had planned to vote for her. As the campaigns went on, she lost my vote. I really wanted to her more from her. Whether in person, or more podcasts/media appearances. Talarico had come within a hour of my town 4 times, one of those was directly where I live. Crockett didn't come near my area until after early voting started. I had already voted for Talarico by then. While I know it wasn't as easy for her to tour the whole state, I feel she could have made more podcast appearances. Her webpage didn't have any real information for quite a while. I just really felt she was banking on her notoriety. Meanwhile I was able to out to see Talarico and Hinojosa at a rally together. I went to his rally in my town and sat outside and talked with Talarico's mom for a bit, which was lovely. I really feel her campaign was a huge letdown and it honestly made me sad.

IMO the “racism” comes in because a lot of white democratic voters who do like her are scared other white moderate/independent voters might not vote for her. Something to unpack for sure. But I doubt many Texas Dem primary voters don’t like her just bc she’s black

Yeah. She didn’t come to South Texas until the last minute. We didn’t matter enough, apparently, but it’s not because her campaign was prejudiced. I don’t remember flipping out about it, either. I was just disappointed, did my own research, and then cast my vote.

I love her, but my perception was that she stepped in very late and just expected to win. It was giving HRC-level entitlement. Talarico was tilling ground for a long time.

She also did nothing to win the Latino vote and had some bad clips about that. In Texas you NEED to win that big for both the primary and the general. Not only did they vote against her in the primary but they genuinely just pick whoever they like more in the general (went big for Hillary and 2024 Trump)

I saw SO many Talarico ads over the last several months, and I don’t even live in Texas. I didn’t see a single ad for her campaign, despite the fact that I consider myself a fan of hers and regularly interact with videos of/about her. Campaigning matters.

She did actually come down to the RGV! She had a couple of “cocktails with Jasmine” events in Brownsville and McAllen. I was really excited to vote for her, but at her events she was not talking about issues that affect Texans, imo. She was talking about different parties she was throwing in Houston and endorsements that were incoming. When I went to Talarico’s event he was discussing inequities in education and bigger picture issues.

ALL OF THAT + she is an establishment politician. Texans are tired of it on the right and on the left especially. It really gave a lot of parallels to Kamala run- which is crazy to have just witnessed that and then decided yep let’s run just like that

I really think she thought she was gonna get it on name recognition alone bc most people had no idea who Talarico was before his campaign. But he ran well, and with a six month head start. He made sure people knew his name and I don't think she fully expected the extent to which he'd already campaigned before she entered the race, mainly bc lowkey... she's been pretty out of touch with local Texas politics since she's been in federal office. Towns in her own district were going without clean water, and Talarico showed up in those communities before she ever did. She's been more active at the federal level and didn't realize just how much he'd gone boots on ground in Texas communities. but also, tinfoil hat theory... we know Republicans in the house helped convince her to run, and I think that was intentional. they're scared of Talarico and they knew if Crockett ran and lost, they could spin it as a race issue that would divide the Dems voters. We know they use bot armies online to spread their rhetoric, and DOZENS of accounts started posting the same shit, word for word, the SECOND Talarico was declared the winner.
