Honestly, you’re gonna be so happy you have 4x4 and a diesel on long road trips. Plus the extra cab room is gonna be nice for storage. Just make sure you have 2 new starting batteries and heaters for them and your engine block. Pro tip make sure you can run an extension cord to your block heater from your solar panels battery backup for when you are boondocking so those cold nights don’t make your truck hard to start. Also, always carry diesel 911 and treat your fuel before it gells. Carry a can of starting fluid too and keep it room temp they don’t like to spray when cold.

Smart move. The 4x4, Chasis, and diesel motor are a huge upgrade especially for where you are going. Plus the extra cab space is a cherry on top!
