what if I do not use it and it closes by itself? Will still hurt my credit. I have a children's place card and I hate it. I use it once a year for a small amount just to have it open but I just don't want it anymore.

I closed 7 cards in one day. Closing a card doesn’t matter if it’s in good closing. The only thing that matters is your available credit will drop but shouldn’t matter too much if you are using CCs the right way

never is a strong word. especially for a charge card once you've built your credit. I've got an 805 at 27 and have closed 3 store cards. I downgraded the platinum to a green but should cancel that too. I have Amex checking and savings so my points are safe.
