Because nursing has become the only profession where you’re expected to: - risk your license - risk your mental health - risk your physical health ...all while smiling at your patients. Because "healthcare" isn't about health anymore. It's about metrics, billing, compliance, and pretending unsafe staffing is "normal." Because policies matter more than people. Because pharmaceuticals matter more than prevention. Because compliance matters more than common sense. Because the system protects itself, not the nurses working inside it. Because healthcare wants martyrs, not professionals. Robots, not humans. Obedience, not critical thinking. And the most ironic part? We didn't leave nursing. Nursing, the real, heart-centered version of it, left us. Until the system stops demanding heroics and starts providing actual support and an income that truly reflects the level of responsibility nurses bave, I won't recommend this profession to anyone. Not when the cost is your sanity, your safety, and your soul.
