A lot of people said the same thing about search and social media. That it couldn’t make money. Then a money-making model was made that turned Google and Facebook into the largest revenue generators in the world. It’s not like we’re just going to give up on AI and throw it in the dumpster because no one has figured out how to successfully monetize it yet. Plus, the AI that we have today is far from the goal of these companies. And the goal, if successful, will completely upend the entire world economy. It’s easier to be short sighted sometimes. But that’s not where the wins happen.

My issue with this and a lot of takes similar to this is that this is a multi-year investment. they're not putting this money up right now because they think they can return on it in a single year. it's an arms race and the first two cut out and carve and use this new technology to provide the new class of services and things that are not possible with. it are going to be making money for the foreseeable future, not just this year but for every year for the next 50 years potentially

I’m worried that when these companies fail, so will banks and taxpayers will have to do another bailout, only bigger this time and there isn’t enough money in the treasury (look at US debt). The question becomes what happens after that?

i would say the bubble burst, except in that same report they announced an increase in their expected capex. the bubble cannot be said to have burst until these companies stop shoveling resources into AI capex

Nvidia isn't going to go under, they do actually have a viable business selling a viable product... but they are going to have some massive restructuring and downsizing as they shift back to just selling to consumers again.
