Newer studies have been done. Typically, the alcohol level that is picked up in your breast milk is very low—usually around 0.05% for a standard drink, which is roughly equivalent to the trace amounts naturally found in fruit juice. Because the transfer rate is so low, occasional moderate drinking is generally considered safe, but there are specific rules and timelines you should follow to protect your baby: Alcohol concentration in breast milk peaks roughly 30 to 60 minutes after you finish a drink. Time is the only thing that clears it so “Pumping and Dumping” does absolutely nothing and does not speed up how fast alcohol leaves your body or your milk. It is only done for your own mental and physical comfort. The new saying is “if you can find baby, you can feed baby”
