Who’s going to do the valuations on every home in the country? How often do they need to be reevaluated?

~90% of UK citizens would save money. It’s by no means perfect, but council tax is horrifically outdated and grossly unfair.

Great idea, the rich and millionaires who own multiple properties will pay a fairer amount.

It will stop land hoarding , stops idle land waste , cannot be hidden , rewards the community , replaces bad taxes and lowers housing costs .

Such a good idea. How comes someone in a 7 bed home round the corner is paying the same as dorris in a 1bed flat

Do it, get on with it. Watch the developers hoarding land start crying about it, might force them to do something with it.

Hey, it's that guy :
I can already hear the cry baby landlords when they have to pay the tax instead of the tenant

Am I doing the maths right? Current valuation £140k, so the 0.48% would be £672 or £56 a month. We're currently paying £180 a month on Council Tax so that would be a big saving for us!

It also shifts the burden of local budgets onto wealthier constituents. Why should someone living in a 1 bed flat play the same as someone in a 4 bed house.

Wouldn’t that penalise tenants though as I’m sure the landlord would pass that on without some kind of rent controls

Its a better system, the 25% discount for people living on there own would need to remain and the goverment need to make this clear....
