@kayandtayofficial: I was NOT expecting to look like that! 😳💇🏼‍♀️ also, If you don’t know the backstory of why this haircut was such a big deal for me… I’ve had long hair for nearly a decade. It became my security blanket. It’s what people have always known me for, and if I’m being honest it has became part of my identity. I know it probably sounds silly to be this emotional over hair, but when you’ve looked a certain way for so long, it’s hard to let that version of yourself go! 😞 Over the last year and a half, my lupus has been the most active it’s ever been. I’ve been really sick. I’ve been hospitalized, had pneumonia multiple times because my immune system has been so compromised, and one of the hardest parts has been losing so much of my hair. 🥺 My hair hasn’t actually looked like this naturally in a long time. I’ve been holding onto the length and thickness I once had with extensions because I wasn’t ready to let go of what my hair used to be… But I realized I was spending so much energy trying to hold onto the old version of me instead of embracing the person I am today. So I decided it was time. I’ve decided to accept that my health has changed my hair, and that’s okay. My hair doesn’t define me, and I never want my daughters to grow up believing their beauty or their worth is tied to their hair or the way they look. 🩷 Maybe one day my lupus will go into remission and I’ll grow my hair long again. Maybe I won’t. But for now, I’m choosing to embrace this season instead of fighting it. This feels like the start of a new chapter, and I really love this new me! 🥹🩷 #kayandtayofficial #couples #relationships
