I started reading all the ASM comics in order, and even if they are a little rough around the edges, the original Lee and Ditko run has a real charm to it. All the stuff people like about Spider-Man is there at the beginning ( him being mistrusted by the general public and broke to name a few. ) The only thing I would really comment on is the little bits and pieces of copaganda you see sometimes, but for an adventure serial made for 1960’s kids I don’t find that super offensive. Also it’s crazy just how successful they were with writing villains. Within the first 20 issues we get the Vulture, Doc Oc, Sandman, The lizard, Electro, mysterio, the green goblin, kraven, and the scorpion. Obviously you get some duds like the enforcers, but that’s still 9 iconic villains in the series’ infancy.

not a final panel but this panel from one of the last Lee/Ditko issues really struck out to me. he's beaten and bruised and completely exhausted that he doesn't even realise he won.
