Go and ask Abbi Pulling about beating a field of men at Spa in the Gb3 series then. The point of F1 academy is to inspire the younger girls to get in to racing earlier, so they can have those very opportunities to test themselves she's talking about. It was never the solution, but a beginning.

That’s never been how it works! Usain Bolt trained at the same track as many female sprinters, none of them ever “raised their level” to match him. The same also applies to Michael Phelps, Michael Johnson… Along with every other athletic discipline. F1 driver’s ability is identified while they’re under 10, competing in go-karts. The F4, F3, F2 and finally F1. There are at least 4 different catafories for female drivers to “raised their level their levels” prior to F1. To date, none have.

Golf isn’t the right analogy. Nor would be tennis, or indeed any other pro sport. Barely any have mixed elite racing. Some do. But F1, maybe needs a women’s series? No one says women’s Tennis or Golf or athletics should be mixed. Why are they insistent F1 should be?

She's actually spot on here. It can be a great progression route early in the careers of women in sport and a way of getting their names on the map; however, it is also eliminating the opportunity to race against the majority of top young drivers around as they are predominantly male. It almost seems like a short-term plaster that's hindering their long-term development as drivers. Which obviously impacts their future in a negative way.

It depends on whether the point is for women to compete with men or not, very few sports have that. The only realistic way to get a woman into F1 on merit, is to have participation in all forms of karting up to cadets increase from practically nothing to 50/50 or to have a unicorn like Hamilton was for PoC. F1 makes money, because the circus of F1 is so interesting it makes the sport compelling. Objectively, MotoGP is a better racing product, but the personalities aren’t as interesting or sold as well and so it doesn’t compete, certainly not after Rossi and this Drive to Survive era. If enough women did karting, you could build a compelling female series eventually.

Most sports you are competing against your own gender but in racing it’s you and the machine against whoever is in the field! Stay strong you are a competitor thru and thru!

Racing is one of the few sports where women and men can compete together. F1A isn’t made because it’s less hard. It’s just like f4. The point is it’s harder for women to get into the series, but can get the chance “easier” because the whole series is around women.

Danica wasn't the best driver and a far worse pundit but ultimately on this subject she's spot on, as she was when she explained HER mind set to that young girl on F1 kids which she got slated for, I dare suggest that if Max or Lewis had said the same thing nobody would bat an eyelid, but because it is Danica and they don't agree with her personal politics they slaughtered her.
