IMAX (Image Maximum) is for total immersion of the film which is why their tag line is "Watch a movie or be part of one" so the Laser and 15/70 films have larger screens with more definition that you can really see the softness of the film itself. The audio has very wide dynamic range so perception is that its louder than others but isnt, its just not heavily processed for lower quality audio systems. It is the best way if you love the theater experience.

I walked out an hour into the movie when we saw it on imax. It was wayyyy too loud and I got overwhelmed during the ocean scenes. I can’t wait to see it in the regular theater!

It’s not Nolan, it’s IMAX that’s insanely loud

Thank you for sharing. As someone who is sensory-sensitive, I’ve been worried about the intensity of seeing it in IMAX. Also, you are correct: the IMAX screens tend to be blurrier with the dialogue less crisp due to the limitations of the camera and screen.

I saw the Odyssey on I Max 4DX and it was crazy. I like the movie on the format I saw it in.

I wouldnt like seeing a movie like that twice so close together. I loved it in imax, but sat mostly in the middle not the side

Unpopular opinion but I hate IMAX. It’s just too much sensory information and makes me nauseous. But I’m the person that’s perfect happy watching a movie on my phone so 🤷🏼♀️
