Loan interest should be a one time charge. If I take a loan out for 100,000 with 10% interest, I should be paying back 110,000, not 500,000.

Federal student loan interest rate should never be above 1%. Why are we trying to make money off of young kids? We certainly are not investing in our future. And the middle class is the one who suffers the most.

Ive been paying my student loan for 14 years. FOURTEEN YEARS!!! And the ONLY reason it is getting paid off this year is bc I sold my house and threw 10k at it at once. Original loan was 25k, over 14 years I've paid close to 35k and I still owed 12k. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!

It’s not just private loans. I’m in the same boat with my federal loans - my interest rate is around 6.5% interest, but it’s compounding interest. My parent did my loans in my name - I had just turned 17 right before I started college. I had no idea.

I graduated in 2012 with $70k in loans, overpaid for like seven years and still somehow owe over $15,000 😅 it’s been the biggest Ball and Chain in my entire life. I’m now 36
