@masalaandchai: Replying to @Debbie V here’s a look at 12 different types of full sun fruit trees that are thriving or at least surviving the July heat wave in my baby food forest in Phoenix, AZ. Most of these are new plantings that are in sun from sunrise to around 5:30pm. The only way this works is being strategic with location, irrigation, mulch / living mulch, dense planting, and time of planting to allow for root establishment. Some things may look iffy until fall and that’s ok! There’s no way I’m rigging more shade cloth at this point. So far I’ve lost 4 plants - a Li Jujube (never came out of dormancy), camellia sinesis (too much sunshine after losing its shade persimmon tree), a Fuyu persimmon and Mysore Raspberry (soil settled weirdly, probably too many air pockets). #foodforest #zone9b #desertgarden #arizonalife #gardendesign
