I’m not sure if this is what you did but for pillow inserts and covers you’re supposed to buy one size bigger for the pillow than the cover so it fills it out (ie. 22x22 insert, 20x20 cover) <3

I've noticed the ceiling is textured, I think flattening it and painting it a fresh white (or more of a créme colour) would look good/help achieve the style you guys want :) (it looks good! just an idea I got after seeing the inspo picture)
