I’m always experimenting. 🫶🏾 “Smoothies In 1991” by Larry June is a song about changing your conditions. It sounds like another song about money, luxury, and success. But if you listen closely, Larry spends as much time talking about where he came from as he does where he is now. He’s constantly comparing survival with stability, chaos with peace, and stress with a life that feels almost unreal. That’s why he keeps repeating, “I feel like I’m dreamin’.” He’s describing what it feels like when your life no longer reflects the conditions you were born into. Prosperity work isn’t money. In Hoodoo, we spend far more time creating conditions than chasing outcomes. Before finances improve, habits usually improve. Before opportunities increase, environments begin to change. Before the harvest changes, the ground has to change. Prosperity is rarely the first thing that happens. The very first line that caught my attention was, “Don’t check me, check the air quality.” He is telling you to look at his environment. Air quality determines what can breathe, what can grow, and what can survive. Our surroundings shape our thinking, our habits, our relationships, and our expectations. If the atmosphere around you is unhealthy, eventually everything living in that atmosphere will start reflecting those conditions. Later he says, “I’m on win mode, bitch, there’s no stoppin’ me.” Notice he doesn’t say he won. He says he’s OPERATING in win mode. That’s a condition. A wealth mindset is more than believing you’ll become successful. It’s choosing to think, speak, prepare, and make decisions as somebody who expects growth. Throughout the song, Larry KEEPS returning to discipline. The money becomes the evidence of the condition he created, not the condition itself. The first Universal Law operating in this song is the Law of Mentalism. Every creation starts with thought. The life Larry describes didn’t start the day he counted money. It was his different way of thinking about himself. The second is the Law of Correspondence. As within, so without. The external life eventually reflects the internal condition. When your mindset changes, your habits change. When your habits change, your environment change. When your environment changes, different opportunities become available. Because of these layers, this song pairs well with candle work centered on creating prosperous conditions instead of chasing money. Use a blessed and dressed green candle as a symbol of growth, opportunity, and financial stability. As the candle burns, spend time reflecting on the conditions you are intentionally creating in your daily life. Ask yourself whether your habits, conversations, environment, and decisions reflect the future you’re asking for. As you listen to the song, write down the conditions you want to change or create. This could include discipline, peace, consistency, healthy relationships, financial responsibility, confidence, wisdom, gratitude, or new opportunities. (Hint: Figure out what is holding you back.) Become intentional about creating an environment where those qualities can take root and grow.
