Maintenance, ease of production. Cameras were widely available to regular people and not locked to the elites in Soviet countries, so they had to be manufactured cheaply (and that why you can still get a perfectly functional and good film camera for 8 bucks in post Soviet countries)

If I’m not mistaken, back in USSR there were cameras on either m42 or Nikon f. And if you was a good photographer, for sure you had both those systems. This was made so you could just get a cheaper new mount instead of a whole lens

to answer your question in the description, it is like that to be easily serviced. the ussr was a resourceful society for obvious reasons. only issue i have with soviet lenses are the filter threads. they are so f*cking long, it almost feels like ragebait.
