@sowmyoga: During my visit to Sri Sivasubramaniya Hindu Temple, Brampton, I had the blessing of offering water to each of these sacred Shiva Lingas. Every drop became a silent prayer, every offering a reminder to turn inward. As you receive this sacred darshan, contemplate the timeless wisdom of the Nirvana Shatakam, composed by Adi Shankaracharya. Nirvana Shatakam – Verse 2 Na Cha Prāṇa Sañjño Na Vai Pañca Vāyuḥ I am not what is known as the vital breath, nor the five life-forces. Breath sustains the body, and the five vāyus govern its vital functions. Yet, this verse reminds us that even the force that keeps us alive is not our true identity. Na Vā Sapta Dhātur Na Vā Pañca Kośāḥ I am not the seven bodily constituents, nor the five sheaths of the self. The body is made of physical tissues, and our existence is described through layers—from the physical body to the bliss sheath. Adi Shankaracharya points beyond all these coverings to the eternal Self. Na Vāk Pāṇi Pādau Na Chopastha Pāyū I am not speech, hands, feet, nor the organs of generation and elimination. The organs through which we speak, act, move, and perform bodily functions are instruments of experience. They help us function in the world, but they are not who we truly are. Chidānanda Rūpaḥ Śivoham Śivoham I am of the nature of Pure Consciousness and Bliss. I am Shiva. I am Shiva. When we stop identifying with the breath, the body, its layers, and its functions, what remains is our true nature—pure awareness, limitless peace, and bliss. ✨ May this verse become a contemplation, not just a chant. ✨ This is the second step of the journey inward.
