@cinemajestic: Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote the script for Good Will Hunting together back when they were still broke, mostly unknown actors just scraping by in LA. Damon had started it as a class assignment at Harvard, then Affleck jumped in and they kept expanding it, rewriting it over and over for years before it became what we know now. Nobody in Hollywood really took them seriously, studios kept trying to buy the script off them and hand it to established actors, or push them to turn it into something more commercial, like a straight-up thriller. Damon and Affleck refused every time, holding out for the chance to star in it themselves, which was a huge gamble for two guys with basically no leverage in the industry. It paid off in a way nobody could’ve predicted, they ended up winning the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting, still in their twenties, and it completely launched both of their careers. #goodwillhunting #edit #mattdamon

somebody pointed out the first scene is shot so behind affleck there’s a constructed house, its foundations in place, painted so it shows his life’s reached its final state but behind damon’s character there’s a demolished house that’s going to become a new construction project waiting to be built so he still has potential and is building his life still 💔
