I think it was also semi-mocking. Like, “you finally have your sister back and we’re taking her.” This was right before their battle to the near death so tensions were especially high between them. So in my opinion it was a mix of caring and mockery.

at this time ekko didn't even believe Jinx had still "powder" in her, so no it was probably just for her to know it but definitely not in a reassuring way lol, especially since Vi was in prison and Ekko didn't know that powder felt left by Vi back then when the explosion happened, so why would he reassure her for something he doesn't know about ? and since Vi was in prison for years and only got out recently in this scene he couldn't learn it by her either. Or at least we don't know, as much as this theory is cute it lowkey doesn't make that much sense from what we know, even if ekko still did feel something for her he's also not that nice to people he considers as traitors

Lowkey I don’t want to burst any bubbles but I thought it was cuz he thought vi was on jinx’ side (as he said when he caught her) and he wanted her to know he got vi because it could’ve been a bartering technique and whatnot / a slap in the face
