@purascans: 🛑Scanned with the Pura App🛑 Zara clothing has been independently laboratory-tested and found to contain cancer-causing aromatic amines released from banned azo dyes — the same chemical class the EU restricted under REACH regulation due to documented links to bladder cancer. The commitment Zara made to fix this — and what actually changed in the supply chain — are two different stories. In 2012, Greenpeace's Toxic Threads investigation tested 141 items from 20 major fashion brands including Zara at the Bremen Environmental Health Institute. Two Zara items — a girl's dress and a pair of jeans — released cancer-causing aromatic amines above EU legal limits. The report also flagged nonylphenol ethoxylates, hormone-disrupting chemicals, in 63% of items tested across brands. Following the report, Inditex signed the Detox commitment to eliminate 11 priority chemical groups from its supply chain by 2020. But Inditex's own 2022 sustainability report still acknowledges ongoing work to phase out specific chemical groups — and synthetic textile dyes and finishing agents continue to transfer to skin through friction and sweat throughout the entire time the garment is worn. The label says fashion. The lab results say cancer-causing amines. Scanned with the Pura App
