And art shouldn’t match - it should be something that evokes a feeling in you 🖤

I never understood wanting a home that looks like a homegoods display catalog and not some place with things that bring you joy.

The only thing my family passed down to me was trauma, but I do love antique stores, flea markets and yard sales for the same reason. Plus with most things I’ve found the older things are built well and last longer than the things you buy new!

to achieve the same look; if you don’t have heirlooms, walk around an antique/ vintage mall and purchase what speaks to you. And achieves the same collected sentimental look. You’d also be shopping small and supporting local business.💖

What is this terrifying white room where we sit individually to make direct eye contact.

I’ve got a hall tree/umbrella holder from the early 1910s my great great grandfather bought from a Sears catalog. Still works, holds my coats well, nothing wrong with it, feels cool to still be using something my family’s used for over a century.

That’s why you have to thrift and buy second hand. Unique and one of a kind pieces are plentiful

I have Doilies all around my house cuz my tía was a prolific crocheter. & have thrifted the rest or made my own art. Maybe you can learn a fiber art or paint something for yer own space that'll have meaning to ya

I like mixing new with old. My house growing up was only antiques so I like playing with modern pieces but add a few eclectic items

You should add some color. It feels a bit sterile. Colors (like books and blankets and pillows) will add needed layers to the space to make it feel more cozy.

We have lots of heirlooms incorporated throughout our home. This is one of my favorites!

This week, My husband and I just inherited his great great grandmother’s dining room sideboard from the 1890s. We couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s been sat in a storage room for 12 years collecting dust. We can’t wait to be the one to bring it back into the sunshine and into use.
