@readtheirmind: If someone cheats on you and believes they can return without accountability, they may stop valuing the boundaries that once protected the relationship. Respect grows where actions have consequences. Not where betrayal is repeatedly excused. That doesn’t mean no relationship can recover from infidelity. Some do. But recovery requires honesty, remorse, transparency, and a long period of rebuilding trust. Without those things, taking someone back often teaches them that your standards are easier to cross than they imagined. Love should never require you to abandon your self respect. If you choose to forgive, let it be because change has been demonstrated, not because you’re hoping it will happen someday. Because trust can be rebuilt.
