Gucci has said he kind of regrets writing Pillz because he feels it glamorized and normalized drug addiction which he also says it wasn’t cool to be on pills before. Granted Gucci was not sexy at the time, but to the point that a drug dealer made a song about doing pills that really took off and sort of shifted the perception and vibe of what was being lauded or accepted by the culture of listeners, while falling apart himself. And yeah Gucci really made a massive 180 almost 15-20 years later, largely to the credit of his wife’s care and persistence. And he looks so good now but I don’t think it’s an image thing with Gucci or even necessarily a business decision, I think he really went through it and wanted to get better for his family.
