Well….doing taxes and paying for stuff, managing the house and yourself regardless of how much money you grew up in couldn’t actually be done until you are were on your own as an adult…i mean…i don’t actually see nothing wrong with it. I move out from my parents house when i was 21(went to college and wanted to leave on my own to understand how to de independent but still had financial support since i wasn’t and couldn’t work), went to private college ( managed everything except the money until i wanted to work and do college same time) couldn’t actually made them both work ( since i graduated from med college)…but i didn’t actually understood most of the stuff i had to do until i was 30 and actually working as an md. I don’t think it’s a bad think as long as you realise you are privilege and do a hard work to be someone on your own. Being born in a wealthy family can sometimes be a superpower than can let you achieve high milestone academically since you don’t have to worry about earning and only focusing on yourself and your career. Your character development usually come from how much you want want to get out of that silver spoon privilege…No matter what car i drive or what clothes i wear or other stuff….have no effect on my character or behaviour…My mom is exactly like yours the smart one…the manager, the mentor the everything but i wanted to be more like her. I think it depends and it’s more related to family ties and emotional comprehension of relationships and social principles rather than the 000 from the bank. don’t worry about not knowing stuff ( i’m 30 and still learn from my husband and my mom how to be an adult actually…he knows more about “adult life” than i do and i’m not ashamed)…I do call her when i don’t know or want advice….We just grew up form a privileged point and it’s ok…

this isn't a money thing. it's a parenting issue. My kid has never wanted for anything, and she knows about insurance, taxes. the value of a dollar, all of that

All these parents commenting “I made my children work for everything and that’s why they’re successful today” is such bs. Parents give themselves too much credit. I agree with Dr Barkley (search this app), a parent’s influence is far more limited than they realize. What parents offer most to their children, are their genes.

Bro was genuinely suffering from success. Atleast critical thought happened to you. Some people never get to that point.

You’re lucky you turned out all right because most people who are raised like that do not turn out all right but you seem like a nice guy, I think because you’re smart. You figured it out good for you.

It’s great that you developed enough self-awareness to actually realize this even happened. I’ve known people in similar situations who couldn’t see this. They grow into VERY immature adults

When parents do too much for their kids they handicap their kids without realizing it. Important to make kids learn and do things for themselves while they growing up.
