@alishacollinsrealestate: Replying to @Tyler I actually agree with this comment. I don’t think every floor in a house has to be exactly the same. Now, I know a lot of buyers love one continuous hard-surface floor throughout the entire home. And I get it. It looks clean. It feels updated. It makes the house flow really well. But I also think there’s another option that works just fine. Keep the flooring cohesive. For example… Carpet throughout the living room, hallway, and all the bedrooms. Tile in the bathrooms. Maybe the kitchen has LVP or tile that doesn’t match the bathrooms exactly. That’s okay. Those spaces don’t have to be identical. Where buyers start to notice is when every room has a different floor. Brown carpet in one bedroom. Gray carpet in the next. Tan carpet in the hallway. Different vinyl in every bathroom. A completely different floor in the kitchen. That’s when it starts to feel pieced together instead of intentional. And buyers notice. After walking through hundreds of homes with buyers every year, I can tell you they absolutely comment on flooring. Not because they’re being picky… But because they’re trying to picture what they’ll have to change after they move in. If the flooring feels cohesive, even if it isn’t all the same material, buyers are usually much more comfortable with it. I’m curious… How many different flooring types are you okay with in a house? And when you walk into a home where every room is different, what goes through your mind? #alishacollins #realestatebestie #casperwyoming #flooring #carpet

I hate LVP but when I buy my next house I am going to be stuck with it.

Is it weird when the laundry area is carpeted? Because I was out looking and I thought that was weird

Having the same surfaces in the kitchen and bathrooms grosses me out every time. You see dummies on hgtv raving about “oh and they carried the granite into the bathroom too!” like it’s an upscale choice. That’s just the builder saving money by buying stone in bulk. Who wants their kitchen counter to remind them of their bathroom? 🤢

The amount of houses I have seen that have warm wood/carpet everywhere and then suddenly one room or a hallway will have cheap grey LVP…literally blows my mind. Like in what actual universe did someone thinks that looks even half decent?

I have LVP (which I hate) in all the main spaces, kitchen and bedrooms but tile in bathrooms. I don’t think LVP can stand up to the amount of water in a bathroom.

My kitchen tile is much larger than my bathroom tile but Everything is cohesive. It took years to find the large tile in the kitchen that matched the bathroom tile. The rest of my house is hard wood.

I did laminate flooring from the entry through the living room down the hallway to all the bedrooms. I did tile in the bathrooms and planing on doing tile in my kitchen and family room which is on the other side of the house. Carpet is gross to have in a house!

My personal preference: Hardwood in living, family, dinning rooms; tile in kitchen; separate tile in bathrooms/laundry; carpet for bedrooms (or hardwood in a ranch style house)

As long as none of it is carpet I’m ok with it being different bc it’s livable for the time being. If there’s any carpet even brand new I gotta rip that shit out before any furniture gets moved in

I think this true. I had a designer come to my home and as she was walking thru she goes "oh and the flooring charges here. I see" 😅💀 like I guess it’s not a good thing design wise.

for me, I want my main living area to have the same hard lvp flooring because I want to make sure it's the same and that there's no issues. I'm okay with tile in the bathroom but it has to be the waterproof tile or very similar that works with the colors. I'm okay. also, if you decide to put the hardwood in the bathroom and it's waterproof that's okay but I would want waterproof flooring in the bathroom and I'd want to make sure it looks good with what I like. I'm totally fine with whatever people want down in the basement if it's an unfinished basement or carpeting or whatever, but if it's unfinished then I'm fine with concrete and just put some foam flooring down there if you want or nothing. I just asked at the main living area has the same flooring if you have open concept I would like it to be the same flooring in the kitchen too just because I think it looks weird one is different

When my parents bought their house in the 80s it had different colored carpet in every room. 40 years later and we still talk about how awful it looked, especially the rainbow shag😂

I think this may be the case for more modern houses but as an antique home lover I think the different floors add to the character. I know it might not be everyone’s taste but it’s kind of cool to me

In Louisiana...when your flooring doesn't match and some is 12 or 14 inch ceramic bulk looking tile, it screams FLOOD!

I don't really care about different types of flooring as long as it's cohesive and serves a purpose but I draw the line at a random square of different flooring in a corner of a room 😂 just saw this at a terrible flip the other day 😂😂😂

Am in the only person who doesn’t care what the flooring is because I would plan to replace it all anyway? Carpet is 100% coming up because yuck. I work in home health and the amount of skin and hair in places is 🤢, nope don’t need to breathe other people’s skin flakes. And I don’t like tile, it’s too hard on joints and bodies if a fall happens plus it’s so damn cold. And lament is usually not rated for all that long so I’d rather start new with a color I like. So if I am going to buy your house you can just leave it be and I’ll ignore it anyway. But I’ve got a bit till I’m ready to buy so my opinion doesn’t really matter anyway.

I think it’s less about how many and more about it looking INTENTIONAL. The house we are currently looking at has 3-4 different floors. All are LVP and it looks like they tried to match it as close as possible and couldn’t get the exact same color. It makes me think there was damage and they were forced to replace parts of the floor.

My house has oak floors in the living room, dining room, stairs and bedrooms. The front hall, kitchen, powder room and laundry room are tiled. The family room is off of the kitchen and has different wood. I think it is okay because you can’t see any of the other wood from the family room. (My upstairs bathroom have different tile than the downstairs tile.). The rooms are pretty big…. And the basement has LVP that looks like the family room.

I don’t mind our mix of carpet and some lvp but we weren’t picky. (I think we have actually 7 different types?) I’m slightly annoyed because while the carpets are all the same color, but my fiancées office has a slightly higher pile than my office carpet so it feels slightly nicer in his. (But it doesn’t matter because I have a desk mat for my chair anyway so I barely feel it)
