People are misinterpreting why the wolves shot him like a dog and pumped him full of arrows instead of fighting him. The Winter Wolves aren’t scared of fighting Cole, that whole army came literally to die in battle. They specifically wanted to deny Cole an honorable death. The whole point is to make sure his death is in no way glorious, and that there definitely won’t be any songs sung about his very inglorious death. Giving him an honorable last stand was beneath them, the manner they chose to kill him was purely an insult

Criston Cole was done so horribly in this show atp where people are literally cheering for this guys death he was given barley even a battle and they simply cut the line of “we will have no songs of how brave you died kingmaker” since it would contradict Cole wanting songs of him to reach Alicent because it would make the audience feel bad for him and since team green are the “villains” we can’t feel bad for them. They made this moment one to cheer about and not be conflicted or even shocked at I guarantee 90% of the audience was cheering or saying good riddance because they failed to make this a compelling grey character he was a low born made commander of the kingsgaurd and knight a situation only ser Duncan the tall reached and he had help from egg he was something rare and meaningful not the whore of highbornes to make love triangles between characters diminished to being sad over his relationship status

in a world of ice and fire they tough on this. yes, cole is dead. yes, this is how he dies in the book. the big difference is an arrow to the neck instead of the face. lastly, he does not deserve the blaze of glory, thats the point. he's a reprehensible character. he deserved not to be remembered heroicly, or valiantly. he deserved the death he got.
