Homemade just hits different! 🌭Sourdough Corn Dogs🌭 8 Corn Dogs 8 hot dogs 1 cup sourdough discard 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg 2 tablespoons melted butter 2–4 tablespoons milk (add just enough until the batter is thick enough to coat the hot dogs—it should cling well and not run off) Oil for frying Pat the hot dogs completely dry and insert skewers. Lightly dust each hot dog with flour and shake off the excess. Whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl whisk together the sourdough discard, egg, melted butter, and 2 tablespoons of milk. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry, adding more milk only as needed until the batter is thick and sticks to the hot dogs. Pour the batter into a tall glass or mason jar. Dip each hot dog, twisting as you lift it out so it’s evenly coated. Heat the oil to 350°F. Fry the corn dogs for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until deep golden brown. Drain on a wire rack and serve warm.
