@steven: Around 80% of the world is now struggling with sleep, but what if we’ve been trying to fix the wrong problem? For years, we’ve been told that poor sleep comes down to our habits, routines and discipline... But Stasha Gominak believes there is a much deeper conversation we need to have about what is happening inside our bodies. Stasha is a Harvard-trained neurologist who spent more than a decade researching sleep after noticing patterns in thousands of patients. She left traditional medicine because she wanted more time to understand the experiences people were having and the questions that weren’t being answered. During our conversation, she shared why she believes listening to patients changed the way she understood sleep, health and the human body. We discussed things like: - Millions of people sleeping enough hours but still feeling exhausted. - The hidden role REM sleep plays in how we think, feel and function. - A surprising link between vitamin D, gut health and sleep. - Modern lifestyles changing the way our bodies recover. - The relationship between sleep, memory and emotional health. - Mistakes people make when trying to fix their sleep. Stasha's whole point is that sleep isn't about hours in bed - it's about what's actually happening in your brain and body while you're asleep. If you’ve been doing "everything right" and you’re still waking up exhausted you will take a lot from this conversation. Watch our full conversation now on YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts. You had me till obese cats and dogs. They’re obese because people over feed them. Feed them food they shouldn’t eat and give them treats as a food of love rather than sparingly as they’re meant. Outside animals aren’t get bc people aren’t feeding them. Let’s not reach so far.

So pleased you had this guest. Vitamins are an investment but getting the balance right is a minefield.

That is all very good but remember countries in Europe don't see the sun for many months. You have three four Winter months.People also go to work early in the morning and come home at night...😏

I try to get at least 10min of sun a day, although also on vitamin d and k2. Just had a whole battery of tests done to rule out what is causing my health problems... Liver, Kidney, Thyroid, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Selenium, Iron...

I work outside but somehow had low vitamin D. I take a supplement, & it’s never been a problem afterwards.

Typical vitamins are not bioavailable, so the body doesn't recognise them, so it does not know how to store them

We haven't been told...never let the sun touch the skin. We have been told that if we are going to be out in the direct sun for periods of time, when UV is moderate to high, we should protect our skin. That advice isn't bad, we only need about 20 minutes of direct sun a day to generate the vitamin D we need, but we also need non toxic skin protection. We need the sun, but we also need to be sensible.
