My sister works in healthcare as an administrator and mentioned a purewick to me, of all my years being a chronically ill person ive never heard of it and asked her what it is. My sister is also kinda a prude 😅 so she didnt wanna say specific words. How she explained it is like THE MOST POWERFUL tampon but the size of a costco dog and you put it in between like a hot dog in a bun. And I laughed SO HARD I almost had an asthma attack.

was in the hospital for 3 days after breaking my leg. it took like 5 minutes to empty my bladder, and half way through the nurse wants to come in and I'm like "come back in 5 im finally peeing!"

The way some of my A+Ox4 patients will just stare at me in the eye mid conversation and start peeing. And I have to pretend to not notice the loud suction sound of the urine going up the tube with the suction.

I truly cannot pee with a purwick. Like I tried relaxing every muscle I knew and didn’t know existed and I couldn’t do it, my brain just wouldn’t allow me to pee while laying down in a bed. Like, I’m 24, why would I pee on the bed? Logically I know (theoretically) I can but I just can’t

Nurses, do you guys ever have patients who are just unable to pee on the purewick??? I truly don’t think that I would be able to, my bladder would not let me. For example lol when I’ve gone tubing and literally everyone just pees on the river while tubing, my body would not allow it, bladder was about to explode but my brain is like “no, you’ve trained me to never go anywhere but sitting on the toilet though…..” I literally had to get outta the tube outta the water and go squat on the side in the trees and bushes lol
