@steven: Around 80% of the world is now struggling with sleep, but what if we’ve been trying to fix the wrong problem? For years, we’ve been told that poor sleep comes down to our habits, routines and discipline... But Stasha Gominak believes there is a much deeper conversation we need to have about what is happening inside our bodies. Stasha is a Harvard-trained neurologist who spent more than a decade researching sleep after noticing patterns in thousands of patients. She left traditional medicine because she wanted more time to understand the experiences people were having and the questions that weren’t being answered. During our conversation, she shared why she believes listening to patients changed the way she understood sleep, health and the human body. We discussed things like: - Millions of people sleeping enough hours but still feeling exhausted. - The hidden role REM sleep plays in how we think, feel and function. - A surprising link between vitamin D, gut health and sleep. - Modern lifestyles changing the way our bodies recover. - The relationship between sleep, memory and emotional health. - Mistakes people make when trying to fix their sleep. Stasha's whole point is that sleep isn't about hours in bed - it's about what's actually happening in your brain and body while you're asleep. If you’ve been doing "everything right" and you’re still waking up exhausted you will take a lot from this conversation. Watch our full conversation now on YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Interesting how we grew up close to nature, playing outside, growing veggies and swimming in the sea. We were healthy. Now we’ve been told to be frightened of everything and look at us, sick, tired and wired.

Jesus… apparently it’s getting way too complicated just to stay alive.
Sleep perfectly. Don’t stress. Exercise. Sit less. Stand more. Eat this. Don’t eat that. Avoid sugar. Avoid seed oils. Get enough protein. Get enough fibre. Get enough sunlight. Don’t forget your vitamins.
And every interview with a health professional seems to start with another alarming warning. Every podcast feels like a dramatic documentary where everything is quietly killing us.
Meanwhile, we’re surrounded by ultra-processed food, alcohol, cigarettes, vapes, and products with long ingredient lists. Even when you try to buy healthier or organic foods, you end up feeling like you have to inspect every label and every ingredient.
Then we’re told to “just make better choices.”
Personal responsibility matters, but so does the environment we live in. If healthy choices were truly the easiest and most affordable options, more people would make them. Instead, unhealthy products are everywhere, heavily marketed, and often more convenient.
Maybe we should spend as much energy making healthy living accessible as we do telling people everything they’re doing wrong. Apparently the solution is to ‘go back to the basics.’ But even the basics come with preservatives, pesticides, microplastics, and a label full of ingredients you can’t pronounce. It’s exhausting.

Can they make some sort of app or generator that you can plug your supplements into to see if we’re using things like we should?

I overdosed on Vitamin D supplements purchased off of Amazon because I saw a video suggesting most people are deficient. Like an idiot, instead of getting bloodwork first to check if I was even deficient - I started taking the oral supplement. Apparently, I wasnt deficient at all because within a couple of weeks my vision and equilibrium started fading quickly. My eye started to twitch to the point it was impairing my vision and I couldnt stand up straight without being severely dizzy. Long story short - learn from my dumbass and get bloodwork before supplementing.

Always check bloodwork BEFORE supplementing VD, Vb12, iron, potassium, etc. If you are in the sun all day for your job outside majority of the time, you are most likely not Vitamin D deficient.

she is correct while supplementing vitamin D is needed we get the most benefit when it is from sunlight. if you cannot get enough outside engagement then supplementing is needed.
