And I think Lyra turned venin. It’s a cycle: it started with Malek, the original lighting wielder and rider brother of the Fables, and Dunne, the original shadow wielder. Then Warrick and Lyra. And now Violet and Xaden. It’s a cycle of a Orpheus and Eurydice retelling. Everytime so far, Orpheus (descendants of Malek) haven’t been able to rescue their Eurydice (descendants of Dunne). Until NOW. This time Violet (and us) WILL be gettting Xaden back. Because unlike Warrick, Violet is willing to give up power, which is necessary to defeating the venin and retrieving Xaden’s soul from Malek. I know why dragons and venin both channel from ground magic, what happened with the three brothers from the Fable, why and how the First Six became the first dragon riders, and WHY the venin want Violet (and Andarna) so badly. I think I know exactly what this quote from THE FABLES OF THE BARREN means: “But it was the third brother, who commanded the sky to surrender its greatest power, who finally vanquished his jealous sibling at a great and terrible price.
