THE HIGH FASHION WORLD CUP | GROUP B The second iteration of the High Fashion World Cup, 48 teams represented with high fashion iterations of their national team kits. GROUP STAGES. 48 countries, 48 looks. 4 groups of 10 teams and one group with 8. 5 groups, 5 videos. Over the next few weeks each group stage look will be revealed and the teams that progress will be based on YOUR vote in the comments. After the group stages, 32 teams will be eliminated, your votes on who should continue will carry the tournament into a round of 16, After the round of 16 your votes will determine who will be in the quarter, semi, and ultimately the final. GROUP B JAPAN This looks takes inspiration from both Traditional Japanese women’s and men’s clothing. The shape influenced by cultural garments such as the kimono and hakama, with the floral headpiece, representing the Kanzashi, a traditional Japanese hair ornament worn by women typically for special occasions. SOUTH AFRICA This look channels the traditional stylings of the Sotho tribe, with accessories inspired by those worn by the women of the Ndebele tribe, specifically the Dzilla. TUNISIA A nod to the intricately layered and voluminous traditional clothing worn by Tunisian women, as well as the embellished headdresses worn more often by women in the south. The floral brooch a nod to the national flower of Tunisia, the Arabian jasmine. IVORY COAST The shape of this look channels the volume of a traditional Ivorian garment called the boubou, which is also worn across west Africa. NEW ZEALAND Rooted in the Māori culture, this feathered ensemble is a nod to the Kahu huruhuru, which is a traditional feathered cloak symbolizing honor or high status. CURAÇAO This look reimagines traditional clothing worn by men in curaçao, featuring a loose silhouette, a scarf tied around the waist representative if the waist sashes worn by men , and a straw hat often worn by both men and women of the island nation. GHANA This look reimagines the Ghanaian styling of the traditional kente cloth with the colors of the national team kit, the look worn across the body featuring heavy gold jewelry with red and green necklaces for the touch of color present on the kit. SAUDI ARABIA The styling of this look pulls directly from the relationship between the thobe and the bisht, two items part of traditional saudi menswear often worn together. SENEGAL The shape of this look takes root in the silhouette of the grand boubou, the wide flowing robe worn across west African nations. ECUADOR Draws inspiration from the clothing worn by the indigenous group called the Otavaleños who predominantly wear navy blue or charcoal ponchos as a core piece of their cultural identity.
