Jumping to it being Morty’s fault entirely removes the true meaning of the episode, portal technology is an addiction onto itself. He presented the idea of infinite ricks where he’s the smartest, and how his wife doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things and what’s really important is portal travel and adventures. Everyone saying morty is selfish but he's literally a kid trying to get home? Even if he has way more knowneldge than a normal kid would, that doesn't excuse the fact he's still a kid. As much as his actions caused RIck to relaspe (again kids are naive), Rick is an adult and can make his own decisions so he let Morty influence him.
