Exactly!! I AM THAT I AM is GOD’S personal name it encompasses all things in it. That’s why GOD is so powerful. The Beginning and End, the Alpha and Omega, the one who separates water from water and sits outside of time itself. That’s why Yahweh is sovereign no one can stand in his shadow. Great revelation!!

I love this so much! To go deeper, one thing I think is so amazing is that the plagues weren’t just random judgments. The Lord actually tells us that He was executing judgment on the gods of Egypt (Exodus 12:12). Every plague revealed that what Egypt worshiped had no power compared to Him. When He turned the Nile into blood, He showed that even the river they believed gave them life was under His authority. The plague of frogs mocked the goddess of fertility that was represented by a frog, showing that what they considered sacred could become a curse. The gnats came from the dust itself, proving He ruled over the earth. The flies, the disease on the livestock, and the destruction of the crops showed that their gods of creation, livestock, and agriculture couldn’t protect what was supposedly under their care. The boils demonstrated that their gods of healing couldn’t even heal their own people. The hail and fire proved He commanded the sky and the weather. The locusts consumed everything that remained, showing their gods couldn’t preserve their harvest. Then came the darkness, which I think is one of the most incredible plagues because Ra, the sun god, was considered one of Egypt’s greatest gods, yet the Lord simply spoke and the entire land was covered in darkness. Finally, the death of the firstborn showed that not even Pharaoh, who was worshiped as divine, nor the gods they believed ruled over life and death, had any authority apart from the Lord. Every plague was God declaring that He alone is the great “I AM.” He isn’t one god among many. He is the Creator, the Sustainer, and the source of life itself. Everything Egypt trusted in was shown to be powerless because everything ultimately answers to Him.
