we belong to two tribes or two clans that's why you can't marry someone with the same totem as your mother or father you are welcome 😁 but genetically you take the biggest dna from your father mother is a carrier with a certain percentage that's why you take the dad's tribe

because when you die your buried o. your fathers side of the family and if he (your dad) married your mum, then she now belongs to his tribe to (she takes his last name) in buganda she also automatically becomes a Muganda too. I hope this helps✌️

The reasons are many, but most importantly, if a child belongs to two cultures without a dominant one, then you are creating conflicts and confusion among in-laws. Especially when it comes to making important decisions like inheritance, ancestral roots and deciding where the child should be buried. With the way it is now, everything is automatic especially since it's the man who creates a home, heads that home, then later brings a woman or women to join him and remember if they get married, the woman also adopts the man's name .

Technically, you belong to both, but conflict comes where tribal norms and values confict,like some tribes believe in circumcision and the others dont. Now you belong to your fathers tribe because men were responsivle for protecting the tribal dominion which led to kingdoms. If your father dies you still beling to the tribe to the extend that you can even inherit land
