Why does Cesar Millan still push “dominance” and “pack leadership”? That theory was debunked over 25 years ago. It came from flawed studies of stressed captive wolves, not real wild packs, which are cooperative families, not hierarchies ruled by force. Even the researcher who popularized “alpha” later corrected it. Dogs aren’t wolves and don’t try to dominate us. Most “dominant” behaviors are fear, anxiety, or poor training. Millan’s confrontational methods increase aggression and damage trust. Modern science favors positive reinforcement, not outdated myths.
