Nah I’m in complete disagreement with the comments here. The parents made the determination to terminate because they were under the belief that the child AND the surrogate were only going to suffer for the remainder of the pregnancy and during birth. As well as the child would only suffer for the short time he would be alive. So they did the right thing for both parties and terminated. The surrogate went against the wishes and risked her and the child out of selfishness (the abortion would have been less risky than birth under the assumption of the disease). When it was found out they were lied to they have every right to want and have THEIR child, they would not have made the decision they did if it wasn’t for the fact they were lied to by their doctors. The only bad party is the og doctor office and those parents deserve their child and the surrogate+family compensation from the og hospital.

when you are a surrogate some of the contracts I can't speak for all cuz I've only done it once says if the biological parents say terminate the baby you have to That's not your baby You're just a delivery woman and we cancel delivery you need to get rid of it

Did they legally terminate the contract? If they did not it’s definitely their baby and hospital was right to call them. The fact the hospital was able to get their info implies contact was not legally terminate. And had it been legally terminated a resolution would have been on record. And no matter what doctors comments were wrong/inappropriate.

wouldn't it be a hippa violation for the hospital to insert themselves into that? I would think it's the responsibility of the clinic or company being used for the surrogacy to follow up regarding that matter. the hospital should have only treated the pregnant woman and the baby to the best of their abilities to make sure they were okay
