I’m autistic, my books have to stay looking pristine, I cry whenever I get a book back I’ve let someone borrow and seen how they treat books very differently, never stops me from lending out books I think people would enjoy though

i used to dog-ear too but nowadays I would rather find something anything to bookmark 🔖. receipts, manuals, other books, ribbons, or even a piece of dust bunny that one time 😂

it does feel a bit disrespectful to dog-ear my book, but i dont like having to rummage through the pages again for my favourite phrases. so rather than underlining them, i dog-eared. depends on how much I value the book of course.

My thing is do whatever you want to your own books but please treat a library book like a relic and teach your kids too as well. The better condition they stay in the more people who get to enjoy them!

my reaction to dog ears on books (same as Lupita) I think stems from my 3rd grade teacher who got really mad if she saw dog ears in a textbook. but I do break the spine because like most, if not all, readers, I gotta get a comfy position when reading, and if it means flat on the table, it's gonna go flat.

I want my books “lived in”…tear drop stains, dog eared pages, and maybe even a broken spine. Miss Emma M Lion doodles and writes in hers so I am giving myself all the freedoms I want. 🤗
