Not everyone has siblings they can lean on when life falls apart. Some people had to become their own safe place. They became their own shoulder to cry on. They built their own walls because nobody else was protecting them. They learned to solve every problem alone because there was no one to call. So if someone seems distant, quiet, or emotionally guarded, don’t be too quick to call them cold. Sometimes they aren’t emotionally detached because they don’t care. Sometimes they’ve simply never experienced what consistent emotional safety feels like. That doesn’t excuse hurting others, but it reminds us not to judge too quickly.
