people keep saying, "you have so much potential" but sometimes potential can only take you so far when you're spending most of your days just trying to survive. people talk about wasted potential like it always comes from being lazy or not trying hard enough, but they never see the things someone had to carry just to get this far. they see who we became, but they don't see the battles we had to fight before becoming this version of ourselves. maybe we weren't failing. maybe we were just tired. maybe we were just trying to grow in places that never made us feel safe enough to grow. maybe we could've become so much more if we were given the chance, the support, and the space to become who we always knew we could be...
