I feel like learning WoW from scratch in 2026 is probably an absolutely insane proposition for the average person. They probably do a better job of onboarding new players now than they used to, but when I started again during Cataclysm having not played since the first three months of vanilla it was absolutely crazy how different things were and just how toxic the player base was against new people.

The real reason is because an MMO requires dedication and time the games he play are easy to pick up, play a for a few streams, then leave for period of time. Its called being adaptable

Wow, I hope is studied in the future like we study addicts. The majority of the player base has Stockholm Syndrome. They have invested so much of their life into it that it would be like an addict trying to stop substance abuse. It would require some kind of rehab to ensure they don’t feel like all that time was wasted. It is just like anything else someone wraps their identity around
